Situated south west of Italy in the Campania region about where the buckle would be on the boot of the map if there was one, lies the coastal spot of Acciaroli. It is a popular spot for kite surfers and wind surfers of all levels and abilities. The best time to surf here are from April through to September when the thermal winds kick in. There may well be restrictions in place between June and August so it may pay to check before you set off.
Acciaroli has a medium sized sandy beach that is set within a bay. It has large rocks and houses to the south of the beach, but apart from this it is hazard and obstacle free. To get here you need to drive south from Naples approximately 2 hours following the coast road, until you see signs for Acciaroli. Follow the signs to the beach where you can park.
The predominant wind directions are north northeast and south southwest and both these directions work well at this spot. The wind is generally sideshore. The water quality is clean and conditions are generally small waves most of the time. Water temperatures range from 12-26 degrees depending upon the time of year so you will need to suit up accordingly.
There is parking close by and the town of Acciaroli itself has a small selection of bars, restaurants, shops and accommodation. If you want to let your hair down, then head back to Naples where there is always something going on.
There is nothing much to worry about here, just be mindful of swimmers and bathers in and around the water during the busy summer season.
Parcheggio libero e gratuito.
